About Alexandra

Alexandra Frederick was born Alexandra Romero, the eldest daughter of Terry Romero and Monica Terkildsen. Alexandra is married to Wayne Frederick; they have two children, Summer and Cedar. Alexandra has two younger sisters, Toni and Gusti, and extended family across the State.

Alexandra (Alex) Frederick is a mother and hard working rancher who with her husband run their ranch, the oldest ranch in Todd County established in 1904. Alexandra knows what it is to work hard to achieve your goals and live your dreams.

Not born into wealth, Alex maintains that her inheritance is her work ethic and resourcefulness, which have enabled her to build an enterprise from the saddle.  She is a lifelong participant in rodeo. She rides and trains her own horses, for herself and for her children who also passionately pursue South Dakota’s official sport.

Alex worked as a GIS/GPS Specialist at Sicangu Oyate Land Office, while simultaneously raising children and pursuing her undergraduate degree. Alex has a Bachelor of Science with a History and Science concentration and Bachelor of Arts in Arts and Sciences/ Liberal Arts with Lakota Studies minor from Sinte Gleska University.

In 2012, she made the decision to go to work full time at the ranch and begin homeschooling her children.

Alex has been featured in several articles including a feature of their ranching operation in Range Magazine (The Lakota Way: Ranching with respect in South Dakota by J. Archibald), articles by Buzzfeed and the New York Times.

She has dedicated her life to serving her community, responsible land stewardship and leading with integrity.
